How I'm thinking about AI cheating now

I've been presenting to teachers about ai and academic integrity for almost 4 years now.

I've learned a lot! And my thinking has definitely evolved over time.

One of the big things I'm always trying to improve is the way that I explain these complex concepts. I'm always looking for better analogies or ways to make my thinking clear.

Recently, I updated this slide.

For a while, I have described AI academic integrity like the foundation on a house. It's made of lots of concrete blocks that all serve a different purpose. There's no one quick solution.

Now, I've realized that those concrete blocks can be grouped into a few categories.

There's identifying misuse, with reactive approaches and proactive approaches.

There's also creating culture, which we can do by modeling and teaching our students AI literacy.

I wrote all about it here today: http://ai-admin.beehiiv.com

What do you think? What's your way of thinking about this complex concept? Does this resonate?
